Fanling King Shing Court: Suspected Air-Con Fire, Man Burned and Unconscious

At 2:42pm a unit at Yan King House, King Shing Court, 8 Yat Ming Road, Fanling caught fire. The blaze is believed to have started in an air-conditioner. A man inside the unit suffered burns and lost consciousness; he was rushed to hospital. The fire did not spread to neighbouring flats.

If an air-conditioner housing shows discolouration, a burning smell or an unusual hum, stop using it immediately and call a licensed technician. Split and window units that run for long hours should be fully cleaned and have wiring inspected at least once a year.
